8th Grade Class Speech 2022-2023

Good evening everyone. First off, I would like to thank you all for coming tonight. I hope everyone is having a great time. Some of you may already know me, but for the people that don’t, my name is Catie Wigfield. I’ve been at this school for about eleven years. My family has been a part of this school for thirteen years.

When I was in Pre-K, my teacher was Mrs. Daly. I have a few memories from Pre-K.  Genevieve and I would fight over the dollhouse and the dolls. She also  tucked a chair from underneath me. Another time in Pre-k that I won’t forget is when Sister Patrick was reading us a book and I corrected her because she wasn’t reading it correctly. I also remember in Pre-K, I told Mrs. Daly that one day I would be her boss.

In kindergarten, one of my favorite teachers, Miss Paugliso, was my teacher. Even though she is one of the people that made me stay back a grade in pre-k (for which I will always have a grudge on), I will miss her a lot. I also had Italian class with her. So, that was a lot of fun.

Mrs. Lamb is also one of my top five favorite teachers. At first I was scared of Mrs. Lamb because my brother told me that she’s mean, but I eventually warmed up to her. Mrs. Lamb pushed me to do my homework every night so then I could get candy. That was my favorite part.

We, Sister Loreto, and our families are also the reason why we were able to get all this food and hold this class night. Sister Loreto helped us with raising money for class night and graduation. I am so grateful for that. Sister Loreto is one of the best science teachers I have had.

Mrs. Niedbala is a great Religion teacher. She definitely knows her material.

Sister Michele is always going to be my 2nd favorite teacher because of how nice she is. Whenever I am hungry (which is almost every hour), Sister will always be there to give me food.

My favorite teacher ever is Miss Gray. Miss Gray has made my experience very memorable. I think I could speak for everyone when I say that we all have fun in her class. Miss Gray is a great teacher. She is always there for us. Did I leave an Oreo underneath my crate and bring ants into the room in 6th grade, yes! But did she get upset with me, yes. But she still liked me after that. Miss Gray told me that if I ever need help with English or Math at high school, then I can always email her, and trust me, I will.

Another person I am extremely thankful for is Mrs. Strickland, my personal therapist. She’s also the school nurse. She has helped me through so much in the past year. Whenever I just need to talk to her, she’s there listening to my every word and giving me advice. I honestly have no clue as to what I’m going to do without her in highschool, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. She is one of the people that makes it hard to say goodbye to this school. I will always miss her.

I want to say a special thank you to my grandma. She was my best friend. She always had my back. She would be so proud of the young woman I am today. I know for a fact that she is watching over me. She’s probably sitting right next to my mom.

All of these people have helped me to grow and learn and become the young woman I am today.

I do want to mention other people for whom I am grateful. I am thankful to my parents for sending me to Saint Joseph School. I am especially grateful for my mom. I may not be her best friend. However, she is mine. Whenever something happened, I would always go to my mom. She is my biggest supporter and always will be. My brother, Nick, who helps me with my homework. I am grateful for Mrs. G who taught me Science in fifth grade and made it so much fun. I am glad that she could be here tonight. I am also grateful for Sister Mary Patrick who has been a great principal throughout the eleven years I have been here.

My classmates have been so much fun to talk to, hang out with, and goof around with. Genevieve has been my best friend since my second year of pre-k. She has been with me through thick and thin. Yes, she almost killed me this year when she threw a piece of food in my mouth. But, I still love her. Rad has been my favorite classmate since he has been in my grade. He is the most unintentionally hilarious person I have ever met. I will miss him a lot and I hope we still text when we’re in highschool. Jeanie and I had a rough start together. However, if we had a fight, a week later we would always make up. To this day she is one of the funniest people I know and is one of my best friends. When I first met Dakota, I thought she was so kind and thoughtful. Tadhg has such pure intentions in everything he does. I really do hope he becomes a famous gamer because I think we all know that it’s his passion. Clayton is one of the few people that actually match my humor. Alayna has one of the kindest hearts and is so sweet.  I will miss you all and I hope you all have a great time in high school, and have a successful life.

Thank you and have a great rest of your night!

8th Grade Class Speech 2021-2022

Hi my name is Brianna Smith. I have been at this school for eleven years, so I have basically spent most of my life here. It’s like a second home.

I have had so many experiences throughout the grades that I will never forget. One of my favorite memories being in kindergarten my teacher was Miss Pagliuso, one of my favorite teachers ever. One day all of the kids went to use the bathroom before snack time, except Andrew and me. I couldn’t open my applesauce so I asked Andrew to do it. He opened it, but I wasn’t able to eat any of it because it had splattered all over the walls and us. We were afraid Miss Pagliuso would be mad but she wasn’t at all. She just laughed and told us it was okay and we cleaned it up. To this day I have not been letting Andrew open any of my applesauce or yogurt. This is one of my favorite memories here.

My friends also played a big role in my favorite memories. Them just being themselves have made school a fun environment: Janay Bear has an attitude but that makes her so unique and I love her because of it. She has always been such an amazing friend. I’m going to miss you so much when we must leave. Alexis Wray is a very artistic person and is such a great friend not only to me but to every single kid in pre-k. She is very caring to those around her. David Vazquez is a very athletic person who loves sports. He can get quite competitive but that's what is fun about him. I hope you continue in the things you're good at and achieve your dreams. Simon Siebert is a very funny person who always has a joke for everything. Keep making other people laugh like you have made us. I’m going to miss you when no one else can tell a good joke like you can. Noah Curtis-Gray is a friendly giant according to the younger kids. He is such a good friend to everyone around him. Noah keep being nice to all those around you and you will get far. Andrew Landolphi is someone who came in my second year in pre-k and he is the last remaining of my classmates from then. Thanks for being such a great friend all these years. I’m going to miss all of you guys when we must part ways.

I love every teacher at this school. Each one is so different and that's what I like about them. Miss Pagliuso is one of the sweetest teachers I have ever met. She is very kind and caring for her students. If I could go back in time, I’d go back to when I was in your class. Mrs. Lamb is a generous, friendly teacher and I missed you so much when I had to leave your class. You prepared me well for fifth grade and I thank you. Sister Michele is so nice to all her students, always spoiling them and making sure they’re happy. I’m going to miss you when I leave this school. Mrs. Neidbala I want to thank you for all the religious education you have taught me, I would be lost in the dark without you showing me the light of Christ. Sister Loreto is an energetic and fun teacher. She always makes sure her class is never bored and finds a way to make class enjoyable. I hope the classes yet to meet you also have as much fun as I have in your class. Mrs. Glennon is an amazing teacher that is so easy to talk to and you always feel comfortable around. I really hope that you continue to bring joy to all the people around you like you did for me. Miss Gray is one of my favorite teachers, she always looks strict but she is one of the funniest and nicest teachers I have ever met. I have learned so much in language and literature and I think I’m going to miss her classes the most. Sister Patrick is a fantastic principal. Thank you for making this school so great. You have been here since I was in Pre-K but you will always be 29 years young. Father Tito, I would like to thank you for helping this school with everything. You are the main reason the school is standing so strong, thank you. You all have taught me so much throughout all of my years here, that I am happy to say that without you I wouldn’t be as happy and educated as I am today.  I would also like to thank all of the teachers that I never had the opportunity to be in your class and the staff who have supported us throughout our time here at this school; you have all been an important part of our St Joseph School family. And lastly, I want to thank all of the parents for letting their kids get a great education here at this school. Without all of you, there is no Saint Joseph School.

Even in sad times at this school we all work together no matter what. When my sister, Amber, was in the hospital and going through a hard time, everyone at this school joined together like a family to help her, me, and my family. It helped so much and made her happy as well. The comfort and kindness that was shown here was enough to make anyone feel appreciated. We all prayed she would get better and it helped all of us get closer physically, mentally, and religiously. That is why I am very glad that I was introduced to a Catholic school. If I had not been, I know I wouldn’t be as happy as I am today knowing our Lord Jesus Christ is always with us showing us the way to eternal life. Thank you and have a blessed night.
