St. Joseph School interacts with the local community to create a positive connection. The local fire department and a state trooper visit each year to discuss safety issues. Other events, such as concerts and plays, and the annual golf tournament fundraiser are open to all in the community. Students and faculty, as well as members from the community, attend various parish events throughout the year.

The school strives to be a positive member of the town and parish community. It runs drives to raise money for local food banks and shelters. The choir sings Christmas carols at the nursing home each year, students send Christmas cards to community members who lack family or who are homebound, and the school community collects Christmas gifts for needy children. Students visit local attractions on field trips, and the school patronizes local restaurants when it buys food for its events.
